The interior offers generous space, a versatile layout, and a boot that handles both the weekend shop and the family holiday without issue. The raised seating position improves visibility, and getting in and out is effortless. Especially in urban settings and on frequent short trips, the electric drivetrain plays to its strengths.

Powertrain and handling

The 225e xDrive combines a 1.5-litre three-cylinder petrol engine with an electric motor on the rear axle. The result is not only all-wheel drive, but also a combined output of 245 hp when the battery is charged. In daily use, the Active Tourer surprises with unexpectedly strong acceleration. The 0–100 km/h sprint in 6.7 seconds feels almost atypically dynamic for a car of this class. Thanks to plug-in hybrid technology, the BMW can be driven purely electrically surprisingly often in daily use. Up to 80 km is realistic with a gentle driving style — enough for many commuter routes. Once the battery is depleted, consumption rises as expected. Up to 3.8 litres per 100 km is then possible, provided Sport mode stays a menu option rather than a habit. Drive with discipline and charge regularly, and you're rewarded with low running costs.
